The North East Hotels Association (NEHA) is now believed to be the biggest of its kind in England - now comprising 43 of the best-known hotels in the region. Our contribution to the economy and GDP of north east England is enormous. We offer 4,500 bedrooms and spend £70 million on purchasing goods and services. Total hotel revenue exceeds £200 million and our total economic footprint is £616 million. We employ 3,400 people and influence 11,400 jobs in the region. We are the voice of our sector. We speak out, influence and challenge on those issues that impact on the well being of our businesses.
The concept of working with others on big issues is challenging. Issues like marketing, security, anti-social behaviour, litter, transport, car parking, accessibility, bed tax or skills. Each too big to tackle alone. But together a real possibility. We have already had a number of successes and if you are interested in being part of the conversation please contact us.

The day to day business affairs of the association are overseen by a management group comprising:
Meetings take place in member properties every 6 to 8 weeks around the region, with a busy agenda and speakers.
For years, the industry has spoken of the skills shortage—the mismatch between the skills people possess and the skills employers’ need. The industry say that people are increasingly entering the job market without the range of skills required for hospitality jobs, including literacy, numeracy, and basic information IT competency.
Our objective is to create flexible, hybrid talent that can multi-task ensuring they are well prepared in a work environment where they are constantly stimulated and can excel. The degree to which those in related jobs can substitute each other will determine the increase in productivity and job satisfaction.
Over the past six years we have hosted the North East Hotels Excellence Awards seeking out the best people – those that have gone the extra mile in providing outstanding service and shown real future potential.
Some of our projects include:
Where we officially thank the best of the best - see the big night out here on You Tube
Our best chefs competing at Darlington College to supply the banqueting dishes to the Excellence Awards Gala evening. See the heat of that competition here on You Tube
The creation of 3 new training and learning qualifications officially designed and endorsed by the Association and delivered by Newcastle College - for a brief overview please see our NEHA Powerpoint
We employ wonderful people because our guests place their trust in them. We know people buy people first and whatever else last. We are committed to developing talent.
