New Marketing Campaign for the North of England

The Government is committing £10 million to a new marketing campaign to promote the "North of England" for 2015.

It is anticipated the campaign will generate an additional 2 million visitor nights equivalent to £177m in international visitor expenditure and generate 3,2280 new jobs. Some of the activity identified includes:

  • an international press programme
  • linking destination websites together
  • new destination content creation
  • high profile travel trade programme
  • new business tourism activity
  • media campaigns in the US, Germany, Netherlands and Australia/New Zealand
  • partnership marketing work involving carriers and ports of entry
VisitEngland will be the managing agency for the delivery of the new campaign and will work with DMO's (Destination Marketing Organisations) to deliver the new initiative that will require match funding from various sources.
